Getting a Straight Stairlift from Freedom Mobility Solutions: How the Process Works

If stairs have started to feel like a daily obstacle, a straight stairlift can bring back comfort, safety, and independence — letting you enjoy every level of your home again. At Freedom Mobility Solutions, we’ve designed a simple, flexible process to help you get the right stairlift for your space and lifestyle.
Whether you prefer to start online or need an in-home evaluation, our goal is to make every step easy, transparent, and worry-free.
Step 1: Start with Our Online Quote Form
Most customers begin the process by completing our Straight Stair Lift Rental or Purchase Quote Request Form. This is the quickest way to receive a personalized quote tailored to your staircase and mobility needs.
You’ll be asked to fill in key information such as:
  • The number of steps and overall length of your staircase
  • The rise and width of one step
  • Whether your lift will be installed indoors or outdoors
  • Your preferred side for the chair rail (left or right when looking up the stairs)
  • Landing measurements and railing placement
  • Whether the user can sit upright or bend their knees comfortably
You can also upload 4–8 helpful photos of your staircase — from both the top and bottom — including landings, doors, or any nearby obstacles. These images allow our sales team to provide the most accurate quote possible without an immediate home visit.
Once you’ve submitted the form, a member of our sales team will carefully review your information and email you a quote that fits your needs. If we have any questions or need clarification, we’ll reach out to you directly for a quick call.
💡 Need help taking your measurements? Watch our “Step-by-Step Stairlift Measurement” video before you begin — it walks you through exactly what to measure and how.

Step 2: When an Onsite Evaluation Makes Sense
While most quotes can be completed from your form and photos, sometimes a personal on-site evaluation is the best next step.
If your staircase has unique dimensions, multiple landings, or limited space — or if you have a disability that prevents you from safely taking measurements or photos yourself — we may schedule an onsite visit with one of our trained specialists.
  • Take detailed measurements of your staircase
  • Check for clearances, outlet locations, and landing safety
  • Review stairlift options and finishes
  • Discuss whether rental or purchase is best for your situation
There is a $75 onsite evaluation fee, which is fully refunded once your stairlift is purchased or rented. This ensures your quote and installation plan are 100% accurate before we proceed — no surprises, no hidden costs.
Step 3: Your Personalized Quote
After your form submission or evaluation, you’ll receive a written quote with everything you need to make an informed decision. It includes:
  • The recommended Handicare stairlift model(s)
  • Clear pricing for both your choice of rental and purchase options
  • Details on our Freedom Mobility Promise
  • Estimated installation timeline
Most customers receive their proposal within one business day of completing the form or evaluation.
Step 4: Fast, Professional Installation
Once you’re ready to move forward, we’ll schedule your installation at a time that works best for you.
Because Freedom Mobility Solutions keeps many straight stairlifts in stock, most installations can be completed within just a few days of approval.
Our certified technicians handle each installation with precision and care. Our lead installer, who has been with us since we opened, is also a skilled carpenter who ensures every detail is completed to the highest standard.
You can expect our team to arrive on time, protect your home throughout the process, and typically complete the job in just a few hours. Before leaving, we’ll demonstrate how to safely use your stairlift and make sure you feel completely confident operating it.

Step 5: Added Safety & Support
Your stairlift is only the beginning of a safer home. During your evaluation, we can also perform a free home safety check, helping you identify other ways to enhance mobility — such as grab bars, threshold ramps, or lift chairs for added comfort.
And if you ever need service or maintenance, our local Hanover and Ashburn teams are just a call away.
